Tipper trailers are one of the most versatile trailers on the market due to their ability to carry various loads securely and efficiently. The Debon range starts with a simple single axle rear tipper, to a twin axle 3-way tipper . They are available in various sizes to accommodate the general load the user expects to carry.

Whilst some trailers are operated manually, the Debon range of trailers are all operated via an electric tipping mechanism. From this, users can expect up to 50 tips from one full battery charge (it can easily be re-charged using a standard battery charger). Thus eliminating the need for time-consuming manual tipping.

The main factor when using a tipping trailer to be mindful of is the unladen weight (empty weight of the trailer) and Maximum gross weight (MGW, heaviest weight of the load and trailer combined). These figures indicate the weight of the trailer empty and the maximum carrying capacity – including the trailer.

The payload is the maximum load weight the trailer can carry. If it is not published, it is simply the MGW minus the unladen weight.

In addition to the weight that the trailer can hold, it is essential you ensure that your towing vehicle is capable of pulling the MGW or knowing your weight limits. Using a trailer with a lighter unladen weight, which can be achieved in various ways. For example, using lighter materials such as Aluminium sides etc, will allow for a higher payload. This also makes it a much more efficient trailer, in terms of fuel economy and reducing the strain on the towing vehicle.

Tipping Action

Rear tippers are great smaller trailers, perfect for jobs where only a rear tip is likely to be required. For example, landscapers, gardeners, equestrian yards, etc. With trailers such as the rear tipping Debon PW1.2, the sides also drop down so cargo can be unloaded from the sides.

3-way tippers such as a Debon PW2.4 and PW3.6, are a great option for commercial builders. They are a more versatile tipping trailer by easily changing the direction of tipping from left to right as well as standard rear tip. This is a great function for emptying the trailer with restricted access and the ability to tip is required. For instance in tighter driveways, or delivering a load where side unloading is necessary. In this case with a rear tipper, this would need to be manually shovelled off the trailer.  However with a three way tipper, the job is completed in seconds!

Additional Features

There are many additional features tipper trailers can have, such as Mesh sides to enable the user to carry a higher load securely ideal for carrying rubbish, logs, scrap etc. Ramps increase usability further, as they enable the tipper trailer transport machinery and vehicles. Prop stands can also be used to stabailse the trailer when using the loading ramps

Examples of Tipper Trailer sizes (within the Debon Trailer range);

PWO 1500 LUX Single Axle             2440mm (8’) x 1550mm (5’)

PW1.2 Rear Trailer                           3060mm (10’) x 1550mm (5’)

PW2.4 3-way Tipper Trailer             3060mm (10’) x 1800mm (6’)

PW3.6 3-way Tipper Trailer             3660mm (12’) x 1860mm (6’1)

The various bed sizes and weight are the main considerations when purchasing or using a tipper trailer, with the right trailer making light work of any job and becoming a vital asset for any business.
